The United States Postal Service, which is the largest ecommerce carrier, expects to deliver 750 million packages this holiday season. That’s a 12% increase in volume compared to 2015. They’re hiring more than 35,000 seasonal employees to help process and deliver increased volumes and meet the needs of their customers.
USPS predicts that Monday, December 19, will be the busiest mailing and shipping day for holiday packages, letters and cards. Thursday, December 22, is expected to be the busiest delivery day for holiday packages, cards and letters. The Postal Service anticipates that nearly 30 million packages will be delivered on this peak delivery date alone.

Great news for sellers…the US Postal Service is projecting a double-digit increase in package volume this holiday season. USPS expects the busiest day for mailing holiday greeting cards and packages to be Monday, December 19th…while the busiest day for delivering cards and packages is predicted to be Thursday, December 22nd.
To handle the increase in volume, USPS plans to hire 35,000 to 40,000 seasonal workers to process and deliver holiday cards and packages. That compares to 29,000 in 2015.
