The dust has cleared, and Cyber Monday 2016 stats are in. According to the eBay Inc. blog (http://www.ebayinc.com), here’s what was hot:
Peak shopping time for desktop shoppers was 12 noon PST, while for mobile users and overall, peak shopping time was — as in 2015 — 7pm PST.
Keep this useful information in mind when you plan your 2017 holiday sales campaign.
USPS, UPS and FedEx all have raised their rates, starting with UPS on December 26, 2016, followed by FedEx on January 2, 2017, and USPS as of January 21, 2017. eBay’s shipping calculator and eBay Labels are likewise being updated with these new rates. Make sure your shipping prices on your active listings reflect them, too.
If you use calculated shipping, check that all your listings have accurate package weights and measurements. Your listings will show the new rates automatically once they take effect.
If you use flat rate shipping, review your listings to see if your flat rate covers the price increases. You may have to raise your flat rate charges to maintain the same profit level.
If you offer free shipping, review your listings to see if your prices can absorb the extra costs, or if you should make adjustments to your prices.
And remember: Using eBay labels can help you save up to 25% on USPS domestic Priority Mail and up to 37% on domestic FedEx services. Tracking is uploaded automatically, plus you get free supplies and free package pickup.

Senior VP of eBay North America Hal Lawton authored an eloquent and gracious post in the eBay for Business blog that should be mandatory reading for anyone who sells on eBay. It’s titled “Happy Holidays and Thank You from eBay”, and it says in part:
“Happy holidays to you and your loved ones, eBay sellers! Whether you’re a hobby seller, an always-on entrepreneur, or a large merchant, you are what makes our marketplace unique.
“You provide the incredible and unique merchandise that our 165 million buyers come to eBay for. You put in the extra effort to make your customers happy and coming back for more. And you – in an unparalleled way — help your peers find their way by sharing your experience, knowledge, and advice in the eBay community.
“That’s why we wanted to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude and stress just how much we appreciate you.
“So, thank you. Thank you for being passionate, relentless, and dedicated. From our eBay family to yours – season’s greetings and a big THANK YOU for helping to make eBay the world’s most exciting, dynamic, and human shopping destination. We couldn’t do it without you.”
